Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction
Pubic Symphysis Diastasis
During pregnancy the ligaments that normally keep the pelvic bones and ligaments aligned become relaxed and stretchy. This in turn, can cause the pelvic joints and ligaments to become unstable, causing serious pain in your pelvis, groin, hips, and buttocks. This condition is known as Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) or Pubic Symphysis Diastasis (PSD) and it affects one in four pregnant women.
To stabilize loose ligaments, many physicians and physical therapists recommend a pelvic support belt to help keep pelvic bones in place. While Shrinkx Hips was initially designed to be worn after delivery, many women with their doctors approval have worn Shrinkx Hips to help stabilize loosened pelvic ligaments and reduce pubic bone pain associated with Pubic Symphysis.

“Shortly after birth I was diagnosed with Pubic Symphysis and Shrinkx Hips really helped my healing process and decreased the pain/soreness I was experiencing. When I was recovering in the hospital after the birth of my son, the physical therapist suggested I get a hip brace to push the two halves of my pubic bone together (our baby was just a little bigger than my body could handle, which caused the ligament between the two halves to stretch. I left the hospital in a wheelchair because I couldn’t even walk due to the pain). I figured Shrinkx Hips would do the same thing as something more expensive (and bulkier!) from a medical supply store and it made a world of difference! I’m fully mobile now and I’m pretty sure I’d be worse off had I not worn Shrinkx Hips. Even now, if I forget to put the belt on before going out, I can definitely feel a difference. With the Shrinkx Hips belt I feel that I get the support my pelvis and pubic bones need; without the belt there is more pain and discomfort, especially while sitting. I wear Shrinkx Hips while taking our son for walks in his stroller and it allows me to walk longer/further without pain, which is great when in trying to soothe an unhappy baby!” – Ali H.
“I just wanted to write and tell you how Shrinkx Hips has helped me through my third trimester of pregnancy. I have Pubic Symphysis Diastasis, and it was painful to walk! Someone said – try a girdle to put pressure on your hips. So I broke out the Shrinkx Hips and just put it on lightly to give a little pressure and it’s like magic. I can actually walk again without a stabbing pain. I am obviously not tightening it right now as I will need these hips for delivery – just enough so I have some pressure on my pubic bone and it’s been fantastic. Can’t wait to see what Shrinkx Hips does AFTER pregnancy!” – Karin S.
“The Shrinkx Hips belt has been very helpful in providing support to my sacroiliac joints as they return to their original position, alleviating much discomfort.” – Michelle C.
“I was diagnosed with Pubic Symphysis and Shrinkx Hips was a better product then the belt the physical therapist gave me. Shrinkx Hips let me get a stronger fit and helped stabilize my loose joints.” – Amy W.
